The existing stage and seating area at the east side of Amaranth Bakery have become more popular as a gathering space for adults, but not for younger generation and kids. The goal of this project is not just to take advantage of the vacant lots on the east side of the existing adult gathering area to create spaces for children recreation and education, but also build a connection between children and parents.
|
Phase 1 - It's not just a playgroundThe two or three vacant lots on the east side of the existing stage would be developed to a space where children could play around while their parents are gathering together within a 2 year period.
The entire playground would be dig under grounds surrounding with wood slopes. a pathway with sloping ramp would cross over the entire playground from the east to the west, or from the further development on Phase 2 to the existing adult's gathering space. |
|
Phase 2 - EducationAlong with the playground set up in a two year developing period, the further development would focus on the vacant lot at the south-east corner of Lisbon Ave and 33rd St, which is the next lot from the playground to the east.
There would be a two stories building settled on the lot, and a pedestrian street to connect the building and the playground. An art gallery would be settled on the first level, and a children's library would be on the second level. The intention of the building is to promote interaction between parents and children and also have a learning space for children. |
